However, police spokesman Ofer Sivan denied the claim, saying officers made arrests after being attacked by a group of Palestinians. Palestinian witnesses said the police hit Saber Abu Sneineh, 23, without provocation after stopping him for questioning in front of the Avraham Avinu settler enclave. Sneineh was treated for scrapes and bruises at a nearby hospital and released. A scuffle broke out between settlers, Palestinian journalists and spectators who gathered at the scene. Four Palestinians and two settlers were arrested. A military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said two border policemen clashed with Sneineh after he refused to show them his driver's license. The police forced Sneineh out of his car, and his brother arrived and assaulted the officers, the official said. Sneineh told The Associated Press that he gave his identification card to one of the policemen, who said: ``I've seen you before -- in prison.'' Sneineh said he acknowledged he had been in prison, and the police began kicking and beating him. -------------------------------- The effect of justice will be peace and the result of justice, quietness and security forever.
