  Israeli bulldozers have begaun leveling land in the Jabal Al-
  Mukkaber area to make room for a multi-million dollar hotel project
  to go up on terrain zoned off in Arab East Jerusalem by the Jersalem
  Municipality a few years ago in accordance with a plan dubbed The
  Public Weal. The hotel is to built by a French and US company on 15
  dunums seized from residents of the Al-Mukkaber Quarter in the sou-
  thern part of Jerusalem. In a parallel development, the Al-Ghuzlan
  family from Jabal Al-Mukkabersubmitted a petition to the Israeli
  High Court this week to halt construction on a $1,3m police station
  to go up on the family property. Like the hotel, the police station
  is to be built on a site that overlooks the Haram Al-Sharif Compound,
  and dominates the city. "The aim is to assert further control over
  Arab Jerusalem," a member of Al-Ghuzlan family said on Saturday.
