Devserv Update

Hi All,

We've updated devserv to version 0.4.2 and added new
UNIX and Windows devserv src/bin packages to our
web/ftp sites (http://www-itg.lbl.gov/mbone/devserv and
ftp://george.lbl.gov/pub/mbone/devserv). UNIX
versions include solaris and freeBSD (Irix to come
within a day or so).

The changes include: added command line option for
the time-to-live (you can now use "-t <ttl>" to
override the default of 1), deleted home position
values from devserv's description messages, and deleted
numerous temporary objects.

We expect to add security (e.g., checking device access)
very soon so further updates will be available to you
within the next few weeks.

Since SuperComputing '98 is coming up, we wanted to
get this out as soon as possible so those interested
could beat on it before SC98. We tested with the Sony camera
but no longer have the Canon VCC1/VCC3. So I hope the
changes made things more efficient and didn't break
existing functionality...

If there are problems or questions, please let
us know--
