Ladies and gents.

If this is in the wrong newsgroup then I apologize. I found a term that I
know nothing about and I was hoping that someone out there could tell me
what it meant or point me in the right direction. I am setting up a system
that says that if I want to use IP addresses I have "create a 'hosts' file
which maps names onto IP addresses."

Since I have no idea what a "hosts" file is I was hoping that someone out
there would help me out.

Thanks for your help.

Aamir.
