I am only beginning in networking, sio this is only my very humble opinion. Even with a cross-over cable, it wont work. The hub is doing two thing: crossing the signal from pair 1-2 to 3-6 and resend it (loopback)on the RX pair (i dont remember wich one) so the sending computer "see" its signal. Using a cross-connected cable will get you a "no external loopback" error message since the receiving NIC is not doing the loopback as a hub would(I have tried and have not succeed in Win95). You should use use a hub (or coax cable, if you can). Etienne Goyer etienne@*nospam*quebectel.com
