Hallo world.

Can someone tell me how ping <ip address) is working....(plse read below
first)

For instance:

[ethernet A]---(Router A)----------Lease line-----------(Router
B)---[ethernet B]

                         ping ------------------------------------> Time
X
                         Time Y <-------------------------------- Echo
Ping

You're logged in Router A, pinging to router B.
Router A sends 3 ping datagrams from A to B...
Router B recieve these 3 datagrams at Time = X msec.
Router B sends 3 echo ping-datagrams back to router A
Router A recieve these 3 echo datagrams at Time = Y msec.

Which time are u seeing if u are logged in router A.. Is that
- Time X or
- Time Y or
- Time X+Time Y.

Many Thanks,
Ramon
