good morning all-

please join us on tuesday, 20 april, at 6pm, in 56-114, when
alum JOHN J. XENAKIS '65, talks and leads a discussion of his
work on GENERATIONAL DYNAMICS, wherin e-club students, regulars,
and seminar students and alum provide a congenial, if critical,
source of immediate feedback to attempt to predict some
probability john can create a start-up international investment
and advisory organisation around his research and consulting
work in this particular field of world event, business and
financial forecasting.

JOHN J. XENAKIS is an mit grad, a journalist, writer,
technologist, researcher and analyst who became interested in
the study and analysis of world history and how generational
changes over the centuries have led nations into everything
from humiliation to greatness.

the result is GENERATIONAL DYNAMICS, a technique for analyzing
history, and for understanding how nations change their beliefs
and attitudes as generations change.

reading heads-up:

the primary reading for this special combined e-club meeting,
plus optional sem.095 class, is john's book of the same title:

   www.generationaldynamics.com

an outline and the slides for john's talk, and more, can also

in the e-club, plus new prospective students in our start-up

Generational Dynamics Newsletter, April, 2004

APRIL 20, 6 PM PRESENTATION AT MIT, CAMBRIDGE, MASS.
If you live in the Boston area, come to this presentation for the Harvard and
MIT communities of the generational analysis of today's major worldwide trouble
spots. The purpose of the presentation, sponsored by MIT's Entrepreneur's Club,
is to seek ways to make money from this new, highly successful forecasting
methodology. Click below for more information.

IRAQ. I've been predicting for well over a year that there would be no major
insurrection or civil war in Iraq. The analysts have been hysterically
predicting civil war for the last few weeks, and of course nothing of the sort
has occurred. Why? Because Iraq today is like America in the 1960s. Click
below for more info.

TAIWAN. The raucous March 20 Taiwan presidential elections were like America's
Gore-Bush-2000 elections, only much worse, resulting in massive rioting and
demonstrations that have exposed a big generational gap between the young "Wild
Lily" generation and the old folks who fled from Mao Zedong in 1948.

LATE NEWS: MADRID AND BIN LADEN. Osama bin Laden's new "peace proposal" letter
to Europeans is an attempt to isolate America following the 3/11 Madrid
bombings. Whether he will succeed at that is in doubt, but there's no doubt
that he will further polarize public opinion and harden positions, increasing
tensions throughout Europe, raising the likelihood of conflict.
Click below for an analysis of the significance of the Madrid bombings.

LATE NEWS: BUSH'S 4/14 CHANGE IN MIDEAST POLICY IS POLARIZING PALESTINIANS. For
the first time, Yasser Arafat and other Palestinian leaders are openly
rejecting Mideast roadmaps and peace proposals. Meanwhile, we're all holding
our breath, waiting to see how Hamas' new leadership will retaliate for the
3/21 assassination of Palestinian spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.
Escalating violence is likely by the end of 2004.
