Word of God 3 The word of God shows a Christian how to walk in this world because it is a light to their path and it is a lamp to their feet (Psalms 119:105). God's word provides for the spirit, the mind and the body of the Christian. God's word gives light and understanding to the mind of Christian (Psalms 119:130) and when God's people are sick and in need, God send His word to heal and deliver them (Psalms 107:20). The word of God cleanses us (John 15:3, Ephesians 5:26), sanctifies us (John 17:17), edifies us (Acts 20:32), and gives us our inheritance (Acts 20:32). Only through God's word do we come to know what is our rightful inheritance in Christ, and how to obtain that inheritance. The keeping of God's word is the supreme distinguishing feature, which should mark you out from the world as a DISCIPLE of Christ. Your attitude toward God's word is your attitude toward God Himself. You do not love God more than you love His word. You do not obey God more than you obey His word. You do not honour God more than you honour His word. You do not have more room in your heart and life for God than you have for His word (John 14:21, Luke 8:21, I John 2:5). Through God's word, believed and obeyed, God's own nature permeates the heart and life of the Christian, replacing the old corrupt Adamic nature.
