Traditional stress management training hinges around controlling our sources of stress, "reality testing" our perceptions of stressful events, positive thinking and balancing stress with rest and relaxation. Two aspects of stress management training that are woefully neglected are: a) Transforming the energy of stress into creativity and healing. and b) Using our intuition or "gut feeling" to navigate potentially stressful situations at home, in the workplace or in social situations. Intuition is especially helpful in "novel" situations, where we lack experience or lack appropriate training. It is also magnificent in those situations where other people are seeking to exploit, manipulate, deceive, con or pressurise us into falling in with their personal agenda rather than looking after our own best interests. Acquiring the Skills of "Energetic Alchemy" and "Intuitive Navigation" --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Energetic Alchemy" will be the subject of the next Cambridge stress management workshop, to be held this coming weekend (see www.sunflower-health.com/workshops.htm) "Intuitive Navigation" was the subject of last weekend's workshop and a collection of pointers and resources are now available online for anyone wishing to: * Developing their "sixth sense" power of Intuition * Practice the art of Intuitive Massage Just go to webpage: www.sunflower-health.com/resources/intuition.htm How Reliable is Your Intuition? ------------------------------ It is well-known that some people are naturally more intuitive than others and that, as a sweeping generalisation, women tend to be more intuitive than men. What is not quite so well known is that intuition or "gut feeling" is a quality or power that we can learn to access more easily and learn to use more reliably. Unreliable experiences with intuition arise when we lack skill in differentiating intuitive messages from "Wishful thinking", "Animal cunning!" or our neurotic hang-ups, insecurities or emotional blocks. Intuition in Healing and Medicine --------------------------------- Like many subjective experiences, intuition has been, until recently, neglected or even derided by evidence-based science. However the pioneering work of Rupert Sheldrake and others has now gathered together an astonishing catalogue of evidence from both people and animals which evidences their remarkable "sixth sense" intuitive capacity. Intuition can be a helpful guide in both our own self-healing and in our healing work with others. However, like many powers it needs to be "grounded and balanced" by our rational mind, especially the rational mind's capacity for reality testing, discriminative evaluation and self-critical appraisal. And Finally... Some Food for thought ------------------------------------ * How good is your intuition? * How often do you use it? * Do you trust it implicitly or do you run the occasional "checks and balances"?
