As an extension to my previous question about Oz input into UNIX, I should ask: Is there a reasonable paper or suchlike that describes the history of UNIX in Oz from the year dot to, say, the early 1980's? If there isn't, I'd like to see an effort started to capture that history before the first generation disappear (no disrespect intended). I will gladly volunteer to pull together any papers, stories, and anecdotes into a coherent history. The history would, of course, be made available at no cost. How many people out there would be, and/or know someone who would be, willing to contribute a brief history or a few stories to such an effort? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Adrian Booth | | | Adrian Booth Computing Consultants | Ph: (09) 354 4936 | | 7 Glenrowan Pl., Willetton WA 6155 | abcc@DIALix.oz.au | | AUSTRALIA | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- for a in past present future; do for b in clients employers associates relatives neighbours pets; do echo The opinions in this article in no way reflect the opinions of my $a $b. done;done

I made this offer before, and got no takers, so I'll make it again:
I have every issue of AUUGN "from the year dot" (including the infamous
"ianj" newsletters). I will make them available for copying (subject
to the usual copyright crap) etc, on one condition: I get them back.
It would also be nice if I didn't have to pay postage (there are a LOT
of them...).
