4th Annual Canberra Conference and Workshops
Call For Presentations and Workshops
16th/17th February 1993
AUUG in Canberra is holding its 4th annual conference and
workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday the 16/17th February 1993. As
well as a selection of international and national speakers, we
are looking for presentations from local individuals and organi-
sations in any area of UNIX or Open Systems. Presenters for half
or full day workshops on any subject are also welcome (workshop
presenters receive a modest stipend).
Currently our programme looks like:
Conference:
David Baldwin, Australian National University -
an integrated identification card system including magnetic stripe,
barcode and photo imaging.
Jan Newmarch, University of Canberra -
XmFm, a file manager for Unix workstations that uses the Motif
graphical user interface.
Peter Wishart, EASAMS Australia -
what's happening with standards in POSIX and the Open Systems Environment.
Lawrie Brown, University College, UNSW, Aust. Defence Force Academy -
MUDs - Serious Research Tool or Just Another Game ?
Stephen Hodgman, Adept Software -
DOS access to UNIX Mail and News.
Mathew Lim, Australian National University SuperComputer Facility -
resource allocation and accounting for UNIX.
Workshops:
Mark Turner, Australian National University -

Bob Dynes, Labtam -

Peter Elford, Australian Academic and Research Network -
The Internet.

Please note that we are trying to organise workshops for SVR4,
sendmail and On-Line Transaction Processing. If any topic is of
interest, please contact the workshops organiser and make sugges-
tions (but remember, we need to get presenters, titles on their
own aren't a lot of use).
The 1992 conference and workshops were attended by over 100 peo-
ple from throughout the Canberra region. We look forward to see-
ing you at the 1993 conference and workshops.
