You have not mentioned what OS are you running.
When you say it does not play the audio CD, do you mean it can't play through
the software or does not make sense when you press the play button in the
front of the CD drive?

If you can't play manually, is your audio out cable connected to the sound
card? some sound card only have one input connector, may be it is used by the
CDR drive now(in case of someone installed the CDR drive for you).

If you can't play through software, does the software only support one CDROM
drive? it may now trying to play the CDR drive instead.

In case of Win95, the CDR software you installed may have turned off the auto
insert function (most of them do).
