How do i go about backing up my playstation games? i have heard there is
some sort of mod chip required. is that right? where would i come across
one of these (in australia)? (and just out of curiosity, why is a mod chip
needed?)
How do i copy it (DAO, ISO?)? and what software is recommended by other
psx-ers? (using a panasonic 7502).
Thanx heapx for any forthcoming help

This will get you on your way. It's legal because you are modifiying
something you own. There is no law what you do to your own property. You can
hit it with a hammer if you want to. Even Sony will put one in for you in
CA. Since they are going to loose out on revenue if they don't . Local
computer stores sell and install the chip for around $60CA.

G'Day Shayne,

The modchips are fairly easy to get and not all that hard to install if you're
a deft hand with a soldering iron. If not...get it installed by someone else.
I'm in Adelaide and can help re modchips if you need it.
I found several people installing by searching on Altavista and specifying a
location to narrow the search down.

They're needed to overcome the copy protection on the original psx discs. Also
let you play imported games that are not available in Oz (eg NTSC games).

DAO is best if your burner supports it. I find CDRWIN the software of choice
