I would just like to let everyone know what a terrible service I have received from Comet (UK). After spending over =A32500 there when our burglary insurance came through, they still didn't seem to want to service me. After a couple of weeks after receiving our new video recorder, it chewed up 3 of my sons disney tapes and refused to work. I took it back and they kept it for several weeks before it was returned. I couldn't claim for the tapes in store, but had to write several letters to customer service (who repeatedly failed to acknowledge my complaint). Eventually, and after several letters and phone calls, they refunded the tapes. A short time afterwards, I used my Camcorder for the first time. I charged the battery overnight as told (it was my third camcorder, so I knew what I was doing). Each time I switched it on, the battery indicator flashed and it shut down. I took it back, where the staff suggested it was my fault for not charging it properly (which was complete rubbish). My sons 3rd birthday was in 6 weeks, and I mentioned this to the staff, who assured me it would be back in 2-3 weeks max. After 5 weeks I started calling the store frantically, and was told that it would not be fixed in time, I asked if they could give me a loan camcorder for that day, but no, that wasn't policy. I then contacted customer service again, and repeated the tale. No, they said, it wasn't policy, if I had an issue with this I should contact their chairman. I wrote to him, and after a week or so received a reply from customer services which stated that I shouldn't expect anything more, as they had previously refunded me for the tapes. As far as I'm concerned this beared no reflection on this complaint, and the service that I received was appalling. I wasn't called for another 5 weeks to tell me that the camcorder was fixed. My sons birthday was missed. There are only a couple of occassions a year that are really special, and this was one of them. Its the first product that I have ever purchased that has failed to work for over 2.5 months after purchase. = I think Comet are crap, and I shall make a point of telling everyone that I can. = Do I sound bitter and twisted? I am as far as Comet are concerned.
