Protocol of Picturetel camera

Hi !

From an old PictureTel 4000 series system I could get the very nice camera
module. This module has many features like as automatic zoom, autofocus and
so on. I have got the pinout of the camera connector and there is a serial
interface. But I have absolutely no idea about the commands/protocol the
camera is using. To find out anyting, I wrote a little brute-force program
which is sending many byte-combinations at several baud-rate, parity- and
stop-bit configurations. Here are the things I found out :

- Baud-Rate 9600, 8, O, 1 or 9600, 8, N, 1
- A command seem to start with #2 and end with #4
- On some commands the camera returns #2lirc#4 (error code ??)

Unfortunately the camera is rebooting on several byte-combinations so the
test with the brute-force program isn't easy...
The camera is using a 80C32 as main processor. I have the content of the
EPROM available. If anybody can do anything with the binary-code, I can send
it to him. UltraEdit shows me some strings in this binary-image so there
seem to be a menu (see attachement).

Do anyone know this protocol ? Is it perhaps a standard-protocol ?

Thanks !!!!

Sincerly,

Bernhard Roth

Probably use a visca interface.
