TITLE
A Methodology for Developing Agent Based Systems for
Enterprise Integration
ABSTRACT
This seminar extends the object-oriented and workflow
techniques to develop a methodology for the specification
and design of agent-based systems. In particular, use-
case analysis and object-oriented design patterns are
employed to specify and design agent-based systems. A
case study from discrete parts manufacturing is
investigated.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Kendall has a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology and a Masters and PhD from the California
Institute of Technology. She spent 11 years in the US
aerospace and defence industry at Xerox and Lockheed.
Since 1990 she has been lecturing and carrying out
research at universities in Australia and New Zealand.
Her research interests are in object-oriented systems,
distributed systems, and agent-based systems, with an
emphasis on applications in manufacturing.
MEETING LOCATION
Our meeting venue is Lecture Theatre 2, Basement Level,
221 Bouverie Street, Carlton. This is the Computer
Science Building of the University of Melbourne. Hints
on getting there:
1. The stairs to the basement are in the north-east
corner of the building. Do not use the doors in the
centre of the building front.
2. If tramming: Get off the Swanston Street tram at
Lincoln Square then walk north-west across the park.
Look for the five story grey-green building.
3. If driving: The building is 100 metres south of the
T-intersection with Grattan Street (the street that runs
past the southern border of Melbourne University. The
parking can be tricky during term time, so make sure you
get there a few minutes early to give you time to look
around. Usually, parking spots can be found reasonably
close.
