ACS AISIG (Victoria) Seminar : Monday 15th April : 5.45-7pm
Computer Science Department : Melbourne University
SPEAKER: David Burgos, CCN Asia Pacific
TITLE: Adaptive learning algorithms in financial engineering
ABSTRACT: There are a number of existing and emerging
Adaptive Learning Algorithms that seem particularly well
suited to Financial engineering applications. This talk
will present some of these by introducing some basic
theory and then looking at how they will be applied in
this domain. Some speculation as to future trends will
also be discussed.
BIOGRAPHY: David Burgos has been working in the field of
knowledge based systems for almost ten years. This work
has been primarily in the banking sector, with six years
at the NABs KBS Group where he was responsible for the
design and development of a number of applications. He
has also carried out research into Adaptive Learning
Algorithms, neural networks in particular, as part of
work done towards an MSc in Cognitive Science at
Melbourne University, and as part of cooperative work
done between NAB and Melbourne University.

All these seminars will be given in our new venue: the
Computer Science Department at the University of
Melbourne (221 Bouverie St.)
The building is a 5 story grey/green building, located on
the west side, around 100 metres south of Grattan Street.
The venue will be the Seminar Room, which is in the
basement - accessible by the stairs if you enter the
building on the north-east corner (ie the corner nearest
Grattan St). There are two entrances to the building -
the other, which you don't want as it should be locked at
that time, is in the middle of the building. As it is
term time you may find some difficulty parking near the
building
