I have been using a Panasonic 4x8 SCSI burner for almost 18 Months with an
el-cheapo SCSI card (Advansys Chipset) the all up cost for this setup was
$500
but I also added a Panasonic 24x SCSI CDROM for another $160 and ended up
with a very reliable writer and a fast copier. I can't give an opinion
about the Yamaha burner but hav also heard it is very good.
