More details:
When using the powermac, the cd-rom writer fails to write the whole cd.
It also 'seems to disappear from the bus'.

Powermac 8500
yamaha cd-writer ----> works ok on a linux box and on lc630 and
                powermac 6100/66

Gear software on the powermac - version 3.0

I believe it is an incompatiblity between gear 3.0 and pci based
powermacs.
I'm still waiting for a call back from SCSI corporation's tech support
people. - They supplied the yamaha and the gear software.
