CD audio cable?

Hi there,

Having just been given a pro audio studio for chrissie, I had to purchase
an interface card for my old panasonic 562b cd rom drive. But to my shock
horror, the audio cable which used to fit from my cd rom to my old sound
blaster pro no longer fits in the audio socket on my interface card nor
my sound card....so now I've given up doing that and have to plug to the
front of the drive if I wanted to hear cd audio.

My question is, aren't all cd audio cables the same? It's interesting to
notice that the sockets on my sound blaster pro, interface card, and the
pro audio studio all have DIFFERENT cd audio cable sockets...why is this
so? and are there any "converters"?

Thanks

Haye Lau
