My Cd-Rom drive (Chinon CDS-431, ever heard of it!) is fine at
displaying file listings, but when I try to copy a file from
the disc, or run a program off of it, the drive hisses for a
while, then DOS gives me the "Device not ready" line.

I can play audio CDs fine but with some occasional error
messages when trying to skip tracks.

Any ideas about the data problem anyone?
