My ROM doesn't even come with a jack. Try plugging your head phones into your head phone jack behind your PC or use a media program such as Winamp (http://winamp.com) to play your music. You can plug your stereo or speaking system into the jack too and listen out loud. But I bet you knew that ;o) I don't know what kind of system you have there, but if your monitor has a head phone jack, you can plug them in there also to listen to music playing on your PC. Programs like "Windows Media Player" and "winamp" may have the option to play audio cd's two ways. 1. by issuing a single instruction to the cd/dvd drive to play. the cd then plays and sound is available on the analog output at the front (headphone) and the back little 4 pin connector that connects to your sound card (if theres a cable doing that!). 2. by reading the data from the cd using many instructions and the program can then process the sound (equalise, filter, etc) then play out the sound card (even if there is no direct cable between sound card and cdrom ) For Windows Media Player - In windows xp, go to control panel, sound & audio devices, hardware, then double click on the cd drive in question and go to 'properties' and untick 'enable digital CD ....' there. For other cd players, its up to the cd player software .. may in 'options', thats the typical place for such an option :)
