I have 2 hard drives in my comp + dvd writer & a dvd reader i was wondering 
if anyone knows the best set up for these regarding Ide connections.at the 
moment i have both hard drives on Ide1 the main one is the master the other 
the slave , then my dvd recorder is master on Ide2 reader is slave. im 
wondering if this setup is ok as ive been having problems copying dvds im 
thinking that the above setup could be the cause.

Probably, but I have 2 hdds on primary and a DVD writer and CD writer on the 
secondary with no probs.
This leaves your software.
