All of a sudden. After installing ROXIO EZ CD creater and REMOVING it again as it did not work, I can not get my burner to burn CDs. Ever thing looks OK, the burner seems to be writing each data file but when I go into "verification" mode, I get an error. When I put the supposedly burned data CD into my other CD drive, it can not read it. I have the LATEST Nero bundled version which is 5.5.10.56 bundled & a Lite-On burner. BTW, I can not get any CD to play sound out of my burner though it seems to be reading the music CD, aka CD player shows the track being played but NO sound. Is there a freeware sofware app that I could use to TEST my burner to see what mite be happening? This has me stumped so any ideas or HELP is very much appreciated. DeWayne dchiass(at)telus(dot)net

I am not sure if this will help any of your problems, but EZ CD isn't easy to remove cleanly. in which case you can have problems with Nero. 1. Uninstall ALL cd burning software through add/remove programs 2. Before rebooting, do a find on the following files in the drive where the OS is installed, and change the extensions to .old if found (e.g.: cdr4vsd.vxd would be cdr4vsd.old) a. Cdr4vsd.vxd b. Cdr4vsd.sys c. Cdr4dll.dll d. Cdral.dll e. Cdrtc.dll 3. Go to C:\program files and remove the Adaptec folder. Also, look in c:\program files\common files and remove the Adaptec folder from here as well. 4. Go to windows explorer and open c:\program files\common files\install shield and move the 2 folders in this folder to your desktop *Note* the next step involves editing your system registry. We strongly recommend you export your registry before attempting any editing. Please note that editing your registry incorrectly can cause irreparable system damage. We recommend that if you do not feel comfortable editing your registry that you skip this step. 4. Go to start/run and type regedit. Go to HKey Local Machine\software\Adaptec. 5. Remove any of the following v Adaptec shared v CDR4VSD v Components v Easy CD Creator v SoundStream v SPG Master Setup v Webcheckup v Take Two v Direct CD Exit the registry editor. 6. Reboot Then re-install Nero. That will at least give you a clean install of Nero which will be a good thing for starteers. BC dc@aci.com wrote: > All of a sudden.
