problem with swing JMenu

Hi there,
I have a swing application running with a few components in it.
I added a JMenuBar containing a JMenu. But the menu items inside the
Jmenu do not appear unless I resize the whole frame to a very small
size. Does anyone know this problem? Thanks for your help!
