Gday again. I'm having some trouble. I can't figure out how to work Java and a cgi request. What I want to do is to collect some information from a web page through a POST or GET method. This would call a batch file (I'm running win98), and invoke the java interpreter. I can't figure out how to read the data from the web browser, and how to get it back. Any help much appreciated Prescott

This means that you don't start a new process for each request, and so is *much* faster. You don't say which web server you are using. Have a look at www.servletcentral.com and go to their 'resources' section for a list of servlet compatible web servers for your platform. The only one I've used on Win32 is Jetty (www.mortbay.com) but there are many others which will work. Tom

This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------F90F7DF58984371353141EB9 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Let me recommend Java Servlets. The Servlet API is similar to CGI, except cleaner and intutiive (my opinion). Let me suggest Live Software's JRUN Servlet engine. To get started, let me suggest you use the JRUN Servlet engine, along with the JRUN Web Server they include in the JRUN distribution. Later, you could connect JRUN to IIS or NES, but for getting started it's easier to use the provided JRUN webserver. http://www.livesoftware.com -------------- Considering the Certified Java Programmer Exam?
