I am writing a lift simulation program that involves a lot of animation
at run time when the program has been running for a while I get the
following error :-
Exception occurred during event dispatching:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

at sun.awt.windows.WImage.<init>(Compiled Code)
at sun.awt.windows.WOffScreenImage.<init>(Compiled Code)
at sun.awt.windows.WComponentPeer.createImage(Compiled Code)
at java.awt.Component.createImage(Compiled Code)
at elevator.update(Compiled Code)
at sun.awt.windows.WComponentPeer.handleEvent(Compiled Code)
at java.awt.Component.dispatchEventImpl(Compiled Code)
at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(Compiled Code)
at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(Compiled Code)
how can I over come this
is this because I am using the same image multiple times?
will a media Traker solve this
I would appreciate any ideas any body has
Thanks in advance

Hi, > > > >I am writing a lift simulation program that involves a lot of animation > > > >at run time when the program has been running for a while I get the > >following error :- > > The JVM only uses a very limited amount of memory by default. Try the option -Xmx to set a higher maximum. E.g. -Xmx200m for 200 MB. (Java 1.2, I think it's just -mx for < 1.2). Maybe optimizing your program would help as well ;-) Carsten -- ********************************************************************** Carsten Friedrich .-_|\ University of Newcastle friedric@cs.newcastle.edu.au / \ Dept of Computer Science and ph. +61 2 4921 7242 \.--._* <- Software Engineering fax +61 2 4921 6929 v Callaghan NSW 2308, Australia **********************************************************************
