If anybody can help me - please help.

I have began programming in Java (JDK 1.1 or 1.2 - does anybody still use
this?)
Now i am trying program some applications with XML and databases.

My questions are:
What packages i should use to work with XML, Postgree databases. Where Can i
find docs?
I want to make my interface similar to Excel tables (with column and row
headers and user adjustable column width) - does it exist the package?
What package i should use to read and write to Excel file?

Your answers please copy to my email - I dont read this news quite often.
Thank you for your answers.
