Does anyone have experience with these products - the IBM Java environment in general? We have a project underway to redevelop an existing Lotus Domino web app to Websphere and DB2/Oracle - its proving somewhat challenging. Looking for people's thoughts on the environment and experiences with real world apps. Thanks John Beechen infoau@sdcsolutions.com.au

been there done that seen the light! Visual Age for Java (VAJ) and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) are a potent combination but they do have some problems, ie JDK1.1.7 (still) VAJ to WAS compatibility problems. I use VAJ Enterprise Edition with the fantastic EJB Builder (makes them much easier during the develop-deploy-debug-develop.... cycle. I then deploy into WAS 3.02 there are several problems with the compatibility but the WebSphere Test Environment (WTE) that is included inside VAJ allows you to test entire apps including EJBs within the development tool. This includes debugging JSPs. It its really great! having looked at other tools like JBuilder VAJ is far superior (IMHO) As for Domino I have done some Domino development in Java with both 4.61 and 5.? It was a pain in the bum! the Domino Integrator shipped with VAJ does work but was difficult to use and the Domino API is not very intuitive. There is an API add on to make Domino Databases (.nsf) files act as JDBC sources although I could never see the need or in fact the value of such a thing it is available from Lotus at no cost. of cause this all raises the issues of changing a non-relational DB into a Relational DB! arrrggh! :-) Alan Boldock alan@boldenterprise.com.au "John Beechen" <infoau@sdcsolutions.com.au> wrote in message news:397ea786@pink.one.net.au... > Does anyone have experience with these products - the IBM Java environment > in general?
