Hi everyone,
My name is Daz and I am a Bach of IT student in Qld doing a JAVA course
this semester. I have just subscribed to this group. Hopefully I will be
able to contribute something towards the group towards the end of the
semester but will probably just be "lurking" in the background until then.

"Daz3" <daz3@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:39669f55$0$11184$7f31c96c@news01.syd.optusnet.com.au... Just don't ask people to do your homework for you. I hate that - it brings the whole profession down when people carry around fake degrees that they did not earn. Some advice? <ADVICE> Degrees are (almost) meaningless, because everyone knows that you can get one without much skill in your subject area. Being skilled at doing an academic course (getting assignments in on time, flatteringly regurgitating the lecturer's opinions), does not make a person a skilled programmer, engineer, artist, physician etc. The thing that matters most is experience. A qualification alone will only get you an entry-level position. For this reason, paradoxically, the the only worthwhile thing you can get out of your course is an education. The paper is almost worthless, but the stuff you can learn if you really want to learn (and not just pass the course) can be priceless. I have always regretted not being able to finish my degree. I make my living programming, sure, but there are gaps in my knowlege. I have only picked up a) what I needed to know and b) what I found interesting. So scaping by and getting "help" on your assignments (to the extent you don't understand the answers) is a waste of time. </ADVICE> Most of the people who ask for exam answers have poor english - either asian or ignorant american, mainly. <Ducking & Running> -------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.users.bigpond.com/pmurray ICQ: 26066755

You do need a degree to understand the whole computer, not just one aspect. In the long run everything is related. Spelling could be one subject that needs to be taken from what I have seen so far. Grant -- http://www.home.gil.com.au/~hold/OTT.html
