Can't find the symbols for logical "OR" on my keyboard!

I know this sounds really stupid but I've just started teaching myself Java
a month ago and I cannot find the symbols for logical "OR" on my keyboard so
obviously I cannot program properly in Java.

I am using a UK keyboard (if that makes any difference) and I have also
tried setting up for US but no joy.

Please help me with this trifling but annoying problem.

reply to markjones0@nospam.breathemail.net removing nospam.

Thanks.

(follow-ups trimmed)

1) Don't send to so many newsgroups. Find the one or two that are most
appropriate and just post to those.

2) a work-around you can use is to just use Unicode escapes. The language spec
has those being processed before any language tokenizing goes on.

boolean test = true \u007c false;
System.out.println( "The test was " + test );

is the same as

boolean test = true | false;
System.out.println( "The test was " + test );

(or you can just copy and paste).

If its a typical UK keyboard then its the key just to the left of Z, with
shift depressed.

As for trifling and annoying, how many newsgroups did you *really* need to
post this to?  Follow-ups set.
