What is a good book to get when one needs to write a proxy? I have good
Java experience but never wrote a proxy

A proxy what? Proxy web cache, proxy RADIUS server, proxy printer daemon,
etc...?

a proxy filter to catch HTTP sights before the user sees them and the allow only
predefined HTTP sights throw
