Gary:

May I suggest one thing:
OPEN A TERMINAL.

Try using
# apt-get update

If it fails, try
# apt-get update --fix-missing

If THAT fails, post here your sources.list file.


If you really want to learn to use the linux operating system, you'll
have to do so without using fancy applications to do things for you
and get your hands dirty with the command line.
