Of the two linux on a disk distributions one supports plip but not ftp
and the other has ftp but no plip!! In the meanwhile, the error
message at the last moment of RH installation is "I cannot log into
machine: failed to connect to ftp server" - so it looks like the ftpd
thing is the trick - what to do?

the inetd.conf file reads fine - all seems ok!

At the command line I have tried a) typing nothing other than the plip
setup stuff b) typing /usr/sbin/in.ftpd c) typing /usr/sbin/in.tftpd
and many combinations of the above.

Where to guru?
