Okay, here's the state of play (thanks for staying with me on this
one).
1) The two machines are talking to each other - I can telnet from the
486 using a small version of linux on a single floppy which resides in
ram on the 486. That is, I can log on to the Pentium and access the
CDrom. When I try to start the install command it says "but your
machine is already running linux, you are mad!" or words to that
effect.
2) I can't seem to copy any files from the CDrom to the 486. I can
mount the native linux partition on the 486 using tools that come with
tomsrtbt ("The most Linux on one floppy disk"), but once I telnet to
the pentium it's as if I'm actually on that machine and the 486 is
<poof> suddenly gone.
So it's progress of sorts but I still can't get the installation
procedure of RedHat (i.e. the root disk floppy created) to recognise
the pentium via the parallel cable and the other options aren't
working.
Sorry to be a pain but are there other ideas?
Cheers :)
