I have a new Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI card and the Aopen PII motherboard has re-mapped the I/O base address to 0x6800, (that is according to Creative's DOS Plug'n'Pray CTCU the I/O range is 0x6801 to 0x68c0). The mb did the same thing to the NE2000 PCI clone, mapping it to 0x7000, but by putting the IRQ=10 in the /etc/conf.modules file the network card is correctly found. However, the same trick does not work with the PCI audio card in trying to make it use the sb module, because the sb module needs DMA, etc stuff that PCI doesn't use, and sndconfig won't let you choose outside of four legacy I/O addresses. I did manually put the 0x6800 address into /etc/conf.modules after I ran sndconfig, choosing AWE32 (and all the others too), and I left the dummy DMA settings of 1 and 6, etc, but the /dev/dsp fails initialization during reboot. Other factors I have played with: I have manually set the mb bios to IRQ 5 for the sound card's slot. (This worked fine for the network card's slot). Also, I have set the mb pnp config to non-pnp OS, and I tried the pnp OS setting as well... The card works fine under Win NT 4.0 SP4 using FAT 16 on the same hard drive in a different partition. So how do I get my Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI card to work on my Aopen PII motherboard running RH5.0? Where might I find the software? I've ported much software to Unix systems and am not afraid to hack the code. Dale Woodside mailto:dale@mpce.mq.edu.au
