Well you are :)

To install redhat on the 486, go to the pentium, go to the images
directory on the cdrom, and copy the boot and supplementary
disks to floppy, and boot the 486 with the bootdisk and go
from there.

the files you want are called boot.img and supp.img
and you copy them (as root or we have to go into changing perms and
I can't be bothered..:))

to copy them:
dd if=boot.img of=/dev/fd0

see man dd for what all that.s about.

Of course if you ahd read the README file in the first dir of your
CDROM you'd know this.... Repeat after me "I Will read README files,
they ahve useful information"

Read the man page for telnet an understand what it is.

If you don't realise that telnet *is* a way to get on that other
machine, then you need to run, not walk, and get
a book on unix. You don't know enough yet to run linux. Don't
bother installing it.
