My problem is perhaps the same.

Somehow, in the process of adding Epson printer support with
magicfilterconfig, enabling parallel port support in the kernel, and then
trying to get it all working with WP8, I've lost all fonts apart from
Courier 10 point. I've selected Standard Printer at lp.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yup. I got the same error when I tried this. Unfortunately, I only have
WP8 and not WP7 (the one which apparently has the bdftosnf file).
