Actually leave it as unpartitioned and allow Linux to do its installation. dual booting will require lilo which installs into the MBR of your first hard drive. as a guide, I had an old Connor drive (400Mb) which was set up as hda (first IDE master). I also had a second master on IDE 2, which had 2G free. Installing Linux worked OK, but as I also have to use NT, swapping data was ,..........difficult. Booting ontwo separate drives if not a problem. Linux will C your CD rom. by the way, what field of medicine are you into. My father, now retired, was a thoracic surgeon, and peer of Prof B. Ten Zeldam, of the Uni Pathology school, years ago. Both these two guys came from Holland after WW11. Ten Zeldam in Wa, my old man in NSW. (I usually live in Perth, Crawley, near steves). get back 6 Feb. Me, well, I am a diamond geologist, though prof Ten zeldam reckoned that was preparatory work for an ultimate career as a renal specialist - stone wise. He was wrong, for once. :-) Cheers Louis Batphone 0419 283 775 Office 08 9389 8799
