I recently tried to compile a kernel, all went well - no errors or probs., but when I try to boot with the new kernel, it gets so far and then stops with the following message: VFS: Cannon open root device 03:05 Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:05 I'm using Redhat 5.1 and with kernel 2.0.36 - the default kernel from the RPM's boots and works perfectly. I'm fairly certain I have all the necessary things compiled into the new kernel (i.e: ext2 fs & proc). The error occurs whether I boot the new kernel from floppy or hard disk. Can anyone help? ----------------- SJS.
