I am about to attempt my first Linux installation under the guidance of "Running a perfect internet site with linux" by QUE. The book includes the complete slackware distribution. The question I have is regarding using Lilo with Win98. My setup is as follows.... Primary Master HDD Quantum 5.1GB Win98/Fat32 Primary Slave HDD Quantum 1.0GB Fat32(empty) Secondary Master CD-ROM Creative 8x ATAPI I would like to leave my primary win98 5.1 drive alone and use all the 1.0GB for the linux installation. Will Lilo allow this configuration? and will it work? ie. can I dual boot two OS's on TWO separate drives? From the book it appears as though it will work just fine if I specify /dev/hdb as the linux partition. Oh and will Linux be able to "see" my CD-ROM as it is on the secondary IDE. Thanks in advance. -- Darrin Smith Phone(work)08 9224 0263 (+61 8 9224 0263) Ph.D Student, University Dept of Medicine(fax) 08 9224 0246 (+61 8 9224 0246) Medical Research Foundation Building (home)08 9305 9425 (+61 8 9305 9425) Level 4, 50 Murray St. PERTH WA 6000 NEW(mob) 0414 756 502 (+61 414 756 502) -----------------------PORSCHE- There is no substitute----------------------- E-Mail: darrins@cyllene.uwa.edu.au WWW:http://www.uwa.edu.au/cyllene/darrins -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
