an intermittent hassle using this moose (large and dominating) is that once I make the intelligent decision to shut the system down by logging out and relogging as SU, then shutdown -r now, (So, blush blush, I can get into NT), sometimes, the term and kill secquence 'hangs" on shutting down gpm services. Sometimes just jigging the moose allows the shutdown to proceed. Other times the system hangs and only a hard reset works, with the usual reboot disk check for improper demounting of hda. The system hang immobilises the keyboard, so logging into another term is impossible. System: Pentium Pro 180, 128Mb Ram. RH 5.2 M$ trackball intellimoose via ps2 connection. Standard Logitech deluxe 104 keyboard. Matroc Millenium 2Mb card. X server is standard generic 1024 ,, mode. A related problem is that when I use Midnight commander, as term under X windows, then, for what ever reason, exit out of X and back to term, then, activating mc results in a system hang. This particular hang is ok since I can switch to another term and log as su and kill the process. sometimes dirty reboot, ctrl alt del, at login prompt also causes gpm hangup. Moose parameters are as correctly specified. Issue -is it Midnight Commander ? My version is the one with RH 5.2 and the reason I use a trackball dumb moose is for space reasons, and other PC posture related issues. Using a normal mouse is ergonomically effing difficult, hope some one can home into the hassle. and I will keep moosing around until I jag it, I suppose. Louis
