Somewhere in the code there is a place to define CONFIG_SERIAL_ECHO. I didn't know this existed until about 2 minutes ago when i was searching through the drivers/char/console.c file looking for an easy way to change it over to serial output instead of screen output. I have not tested this personally, so i can not comment on how well it will work. Here's an excerpt from the Documentation/Configure.help file :- Echo console messages on /dev/ttyS1 CONFIG_SERIAL_ECHO If you enable this option, all kernel messages that would usually go to the console will also be sent to the device /dev/ttyS1 which corresponds to a serial port; this could be useful if you attached a terminal or printer to that port. I couldn't find it in any of the "make config" scripts, so you will have to add it by hand. I have never really had to do this before, but, I think this may work :- Add the following line to /usr/src/linux/drivers/char/Config.in bool 'Echo Boot log to serial port on ttyS1' CONFIG_SERIAL_ECHO just after the "comment 'Character devices'" line. Hope this is of some help, and I would be interested to hear if it works too. :) Kind Regards, Mark Assad.
