G'day. I've just recently had the opportunity to put in an old cga video card and monitor into my computer as a second device, since I was sure I'd be able to do something with it. However, I cannot seem to find how to access it. None of the prewritten ttys (slackware 3.0) output appear on the monitor (although I do get a prompt). I have looked through the howtos and mini-howtos, and they all seem to be talking about dumb terms or virtual ttys. I just want to set up a second monitor to run top or something. Also, does anyone know why both dos and linux put the real monitor (attached to an svga socket on another card) into monchrome mode now? Windows and X both work fine still, but the lack of colors is kinda annoying. Thanks for you help. Any pointers to existing documents appreciated, and email returned to this address is also appreciated. I usually go through this group fairly thoroughly, but after a few days away I miss things...
