My essential problem with Linux

Hi everyone,

Linux is great. I love it. The interface and its power leave dos, windoze,
macos, and everything else for dead. Unfortunatly ... I still have to use
windows 95. For the simple reason that there just aren't any applications
for Linux! I mean, are there things available of the calibre of Office95,
Photoshop, etc? Are they available in Australia?

Another BIG problem is not being able to use my humble Epson EPL-3000 laser
printer. Of course, it's not postscript, so where does that leave me?? Even
if I DID have office 95, I wouldn't be able to print anything now would I?

Another problem (although not a serious one :) is the absence of Descent2
and Kali for Linux! :)

Will Linux ever become a commerical alternative? It seems the cost saved in
getting the operating system is negligable compared to the level of
technical expertise required to run it, not even considering the apparent
rareity of software.

And don't say 'gimp' is compareable to photoshop :) I currently use Linux
alongside winblows95 for editing web pages (just using vi), browsing the
net, ftping, IRC, so generally I can only use it for Internet related
stuff. There MUST be what I am looking for out there somewhere? Is there?
