I've resolved the problem by doing a new complete install from the Sept 96 Infomagic release. I figure this has greater integrity than pulling the disk-sets down bit by bit and then adding extras. Beacuse I hadn't put too much effort into the system since install, and kept notes on what I had done so far, I was easily able to backup my own stuff, re-install and restore my stuff. pppd now works fine... now for X and Netscape..... Thanks for your consideration, ________________ In article <51a51b$ip5@mblisd.macquarie.com.au>, dmarriot@macqurie.com.au says... | |I am running Slakware 3.0, Kernel 2.0.0 as loaded from monash.edu.au mirror |site.
