Hello! Before anyone tells me to RTFM, I *HAVE* and I've contacted Samsung who tell me they know nothing about Linux/X. This is my problem...I own an IBM PS2/Value Point 486DX/2-66, 16Mb RAM, 128K cache, S3 801/805 local bus 1024K standard, a 340Mb Western Digital IDE, and a Samsung SyncMaster 3 SVGA 14" monitor. I've ran xf86config, got all the card info, mouse, alt and meta key bizzo down pat. The problem is horizontal/vertical refresh rates. I've experimented with all sorts of settings; no dice. It either hangs my system when it runs startx or tries to run it at a resolution like 1028x740 when there isn't enough video RAM for this. The release docs for this version (Slackware April '96) 1.2.13 don't include specs for the Samsung i've mentioned. I've tried VGA, generic SVGA and Monochrome, so it isn't the S3 card. It isn't due to servers missing (i.e X86F_S3 or whatever)...it's the bloody monitor. Does anyone out there have sample hori and vert. refresh and/or sync rates for this breed of monitor? Please help as I'm going mad!!! 'Later Peter Linux Ignoramus # 2384564
