I'd like to say make Ctrl-9 generate a keysym 8, while leaving
9 generate 9 and Shift-9 generate left parenthesis in X. Is it
possible? I tried something like:
xmodmap -e "keycode 18 = 9 leftparen 8"
but the "8" part has no effect. That is, pressing Ctrl-9 still
gives a 9, not a 8.
