One of the peculiaralites of the dip version coming with Slackware 3.0,
and I assume other distributions also, is that it expects pppd to be in a particular
directory. I think it's something along the lines of /usr/lib/ppp/pppd. You should
be able to find it in the docs with an idea of where to look. Also, my brother was
having a problem with ppp on his computer (not using dip) which gave the same error.
I never quite worked out what it was, but we managed to fix it by getting the latest
ppp and kernel etc and running the patch that comes with ppp. The script seemed to
be saying that it hadn't actually changed anything, but with a new kernel compiled
it ran without a problem. <shrug> One of those things I guess.
