It has been drawn to my attention (and tested by myself) that there could well be an error in the chat script in the PPP-HOWTO (V2.1). In the chat script (the PPP_DIALER script referenced by ppp-on), the line exec chat -v should be edited REMOVING the 'exec' - ie the line should read chat -v Having checked operation with and without this exec, the scripts do NOT work with the exec but DO work without it. Needless to say, the script that I am using does NOT use the 'exec' and I am at a loss as to how this got into the example script in the HOWTO (apart from the fact that this is how it appears as delivered in the ppp-2.2f distribution...)
